LA Girl Review

I cannot believe it’s been just over two weeks since my last post! I’ve been so busy with school, long distance learning is tough!!

Anyway, on to the REAL reason why we’re all reading this:

About a month ago I purchased an LA Girl HD Colour Palette from Dischem Pharmacies. I was soo inlove with it that I decided to write a review!

The palette I chose is called ‘Nightlife’ And it is HIGHLY pigmented. I have some swatches below (granted it’s not the best lighting I tried, the weather here is moody making it nearly impossible to get perfect photos ๐Ÿ™ˆ)

All you really need is to apply two coats and there you go! Even tho it’s called ‘Nightlife’  the gold tones are perfect for your everyday natural look. I’d go so far as to even suggest using the gold tones as a highlighter as they reflect light beautifully!

Well there you go! Hope you enjoyed reading this! If you have any feedback or questions feel free to use the comment section.

Nails, nails, nails…

Well, lol I had Destiny’s Child ‘Bills’ in my head when I typed that title๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

On to the important things๐Ÿ˜Š

I did my own acrylic nails today (as I’ve been doing for the past 5 years) and I always struggle finding the perfect nude colour. I always try mixing it myself with powder but it either comes out too dark or too light or just messed up๐Ÿ™ˆ so I literally settled on brown.

So there! If anyone has any great tips on how to mix acrylic powder to achieve any colour please leave a comment below. Thank you๐Ÿ˜˜

Random thoughts…

It’s 12:08am in South Africa and im bout to hit the sack. See I co-sleep with my 11 month old son and I just looked over at him. You know when you just smile and you don’t know why or how it happened but it just does? Well I found the why… He is the best thing that has ever happened to me, timing and all. I had him when I was 20 (im only 21) but because of the trials ive had to go through at such a young age because of falling pregnant so young have made me that much of a better mother to my son.

The funniest thing literally JUST happened! Found this picture on facebook and it just summarizes how proud I am to be this young man’s mother:

This post is off topic from the beauty posts and trust, it probably will be happening a lot more often than it should๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ™ˆ

Goodnight/Goodmorning/Goodday/Goodevening, depending on where you are, from my son and I ๐Ÿ˜˜โค๏ธ

On the job…

Recently, a few girls from a reputable school in Pietermaritzburg asked if I would do their make up for their Grade 10 ball and of course I agreed!

This evening I had the pleasure of doing a trial for two of the girls and im just going to share what I did for them. Next week I’ll post pictures of them in their dresses with the whole shebang!

Both the girls asked for something natural. However, they will swop lip colours because it will be more complementary to their dresses respectively.

Enjoy!๐Ÿ˜Š

Look number one (and yes, those are her own lashes! No falsies!! I know right! It’s amazing I’m so jealous!๐Ÿ™ˆ):

Advice needed!!

Hey fellow bloggers๐Ÿ˜Š

As I’ve mentioned I’m from South Africa and it’s pretty hard finding decently priced make up. So if any of you have any advice or suggestions for online make up stores that deliver internationally, please comment below.

Thank you in advance๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ™ˆ in desperate need!๐Ÿ˜Š

Simple Natural Eye

Hello again๐Ÿ˜Š

So today I just want to share a natural eye with winged eyeliner and im going to share what tools I used to achieve the end result.

First things first, I absolutely cannot live without this Maybelline foundation! It doesn’t transfer on clothes so that white shirt will be looking pretty spotless by the end of the day. You can purchase this at Dischem and Clicks and it works wonders! It doesn’t cost more than R200 (unless there has been a price hike I don’t know ’bout๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚).

I began by using the Catrice Eye-shadow Primer. I unfortunately don’t have a picture of it๐Ÿ™ˆ

Next I used eyeshadows from Nicka. I used the one on the right on the crease of the eye as well as a little above the crease:

From there I used a slightly darker brown. As you can see in the picture it’s pretty used up, it’s my go to transition colour. It’s the shadow on the very top right hand corner:

Now on to the golden hue used on the lid. I used LA Girl Cosmetics and you can also find this at Dischem. I used the shadow that’s number three from the left hand side. Now it didn’t come out very bright when I first tried it out so i read that if you use Vaseline (yes, Blue Seal that’s loved by our grandmothers so much!) it comes out MUCH brighter.

For the winged eyeliner I used the Catrice gel liner and it’s a grey colour. This look would also go well with a brown liquid/gel liner.

Lastly these are the tools I used to get the look. I won’t explain in detail what I did with which brush as im still figuring them out in all the different styles I have cooked up in my head! I promise I will soon!

And Ladies and Gentlemen, this is the final look!

Makeup Haul

Yesterday I headed over to Dischem (the one at Liberty Mall) to get some more goodies for my make up bag. I got quite a few things for R252. I also got a few extra make up brushes at Edgar’s for R160 (Yep! 4 brushes at R160. Amazing!)

Anyway here are my goodies๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š

These were added to my collections so I also took pictures of what I use.

These are the foundations that I use (I’ve gone through a lot of skin tones in my lifetime, believe it or not I’ve been about one or two shades darker than I am now):

I only ever use one brand and colour of blush, Elizabeth Arden:

Lastly, this all my eye make up, eyeliner, eyeshadow, liquid liners etc as well as my lip ‘service’๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ™ˆ

I’ll follow with another post on my make up look for today as well as what I actually bought and prices.

Feelin’ Ma’self…

So today I decided to try something new, it may not be to some experienced make up artists but here goes!

I mixed my MAC bronzer with my Maybelline Foundation (I’ll post pics later) so I could get some sort of glow as my skin tends to look a bit dull in pictures. To say im happy with the result is an understatement! It turned out perfectly. I see the difference in photos! See below:

I then proceeded to contour, I used my Artistry (from Amway) concealer and my Farmasi powder (I actually forgot what shade t was, oops!). I feel like my Elizabeth Arden blush is also a highlighter as well, I never have to add in extras because it looks like I did!

I have to admit though that im not quite pleased with the staying power of my Farmasi powder as part of my contouring, I’ll probably look into buying some La Girl soon. I’ll be posting bout my make up haul sometime in the next week.

Love,
